A Great Book!
This is a really great series that follows the adventures of Cassie, Barney, their Aunt Alex, and her accountant, Crenshaw, to different places around the world.

In this book, a strange, Mesoamerican man arrives at Aunt Alex's mansion to retrieve her jade necklace, which he claims belonged to an ancienct princess before it was stolen and sold. After they refuse to give up the necklace, he leaves, and shortly after an invitation to a Mystery Cruise tour around the Yucatan peninsula arrives in the mail.

They go on the cruise, and Barney and Cassie are convinced that they are going to be offered as sacrifices to the gods...

This is a very good book, and is also informative about the Aztec culture. A great read!

Excellent for young people
An exciting tale of the first meeting of Europeans with the aboriginal people of Canada. Set on Vancouver Island, the story is a primer for the issues we face today. But Margaret Anderson is above all, a storyteller in this action-packed adventure.

The Dakota or Sioux in Minnesota As They Were in 1834
Published in Paperback by Minnesota Historical Society (October, 1986)
Authors: Samuel W. Pond and Gary Clayton Anderson
Average review score:

A tribute the the real Native Amrtican
For many years, I, like so many others, have labored under the assumption that the Native American 'story' was somewhat like the depictions we had all seen and read.

The voice of the current Native Americans speak to the atrocities perpetrated upon them by the insensitive advancement of land hungry europeans.

This book, written by Samuel Pond, simply describes how the Lakota Sioux actually 'were' in Minnesota in 1834.

Samuel and his brother Gideon Pond were missionaries to the Sioux and, among other exceptional work, compiled a comprehensive lexicon of the Sioux language, subsequently translating the Bible into Sioux.

For those of you who would like to gain an unbiased view of the true Native American, this book is a 'must'.

It is also possible that after learning about Samuel and Gideon Pond, you will develop a deep appreciation of the dedication and hardships suffered by, and the good intentions and pioneering spirit of the missionaries who wanted to enrich the souls of Native Americans.

Samuel and Gideon Pond were truely 'unsung heros' of our American heritage. Their efforts have been annotated in this book, however, and so their exploits still live in the minds of the reader.

Even if you choose not to purchase this book, it would be well worth your time to 'surf' their names in the internet. You will be rather surprised at the results.

The Dancer from Atlantis
Published in Paperback by Tor Books (July, 1993)
Author: Poul Anderson
Average review score:

A romantic time travel speculation of an ancient eruption
This book combines romantic science fiction with a historical backdrop. Anderson's strong character development and great storytelling makes this novel a great read. The first time I read this book I could not put it down and nearly did not sleep that night. It was that exciting and fast paced. He uses time travel as a method of moving the main character back to ancient history during the height of Cretan civilization and who falls in love with a beautiful bull dancer. He uses the eruption of Krakatowa as the pivotal event. I recently reread the book and it still works for me!

Reminds me of reading Nancy Drew mysteries....
You are sure to enjoy this mystery story, it is full of interesting details that make it come alive and yet moves on at a lively pace without dragging and becoming boring at all. I read all the Nancy Drew stories growing up and this one would rate right along with them.

Authors Comments
A scandalous tale that the Mormons believed was long dead and burried finds new life when new evidence surfaces. This story revolves around the attempt to stop this material from being published. When the novel unfolds the reader is treated to a story with romance, murder, kidnapping and intrigue that will capture the reader's attention.

Roy and Julie must flee for their lives having to escape the country to keep their pursuers from catching them. The chase is intense with motivated fanatics trying everything in their power to locate them. An adventure that is international in scope. You have a chance to learn something of the beginnings of Mormonism as the story unfolds.

This novel was started about six years after I became aware of this early Mormom historical tale which comprises the basic plot. It begged to be written and I kept coming back to the conclusion that this would make a wonderful story.

David and The Trash Talking Giant
I love these books. I first received Jonah's Trash God's Treasure as a gift and I was so excited to see that Joel had another book out. Not only do these books tell a wonderful story, my child loves to look for all the diffrent items used to make each scene. He goes back and looks and them over and over. What clever books
